Damon Sugden
Damon Sugden (Dancer) From age 10, Damon has pursued his love of Ballroom dance. He has been dancing with his wife, Rebecca, since St Valentine’s Day 1994. Their immediate chemistry on the dance floor led to winning a National title within only four months of their partnership and began a whirlwind competitive career through Australia, Europe & Asia. Experiencing success on the international competitive scene, they won many National and International Championships, including: three-times undefeated Australian Ballroom Champions, three successive Asian Pacific Ballroom Championships, National Ten Dance Champions and the first and only Australians to win the International Youth Ballroom Championship in London. Some of their proudest moments include a Grand Final at the British Open Championships youth and finalists at the World Cup in Tokyo. Their competitive success and distinctive style led to an invitation to join BURN THE FLOOR in 1999. Over the past 11 years they have featured in BURN THE FLOOR, Jason Gilikson’s Ballroom, Floorplay and BURN THE FLOOR on Broadway, performing in over 150 cities throughout the world. Damon & Rebecca have made many guest appearances on TV shows all over the world including: Dancing with the Stars, Australia; So You Think You Can Dance, Europe; 60 Minutes, Australia; Dancing with the Stars, USA and even braved a NYC cold morning to dance on the Today Show, USA. They married between tours of Burn The Floor in 2002 and have loved touring with Burn The Floor since 1999 and were thrilled to be Original Broadway cast in 2009.
